What's this I hear that the TDCi is giving all sorts of problems? Just got a new van with one in: at the moment it's the dog's part. I recommended it to the boss, don't want to look a 2@ if it's going to break...

IIRC the early engines suffered later in life if abused early on.

I know a couple of people with mondaneo's with these in, and both have had oil leaks but to fords credit they have sorted both out in reasonable time and with no reoccurance.

Hmmm... when I picked it up there were 15 miles on the clock. A day later I was doing 107 over the A66 to the Lakes...
Five weeks on it has covered 4500 miles.
Is this abuse?

You don't happen to know if either of them have cruise control do you?
I was looking at an aftermarket system (license-saving )but can't get my non-paedophile hands round the back of the engine to trace the vacuum piping from the brake servo.

It was a perfectly safe stretch of road on which to be travelling at that speed. That's why there are no 'safety' cameras . However I'd bet a pound to a pinch of shit that the place is often riddled with SPEED cameras.
