I have a problem with a rover V8 dizzy (electronic type), the small plastic drive dog between the dizzy shaft and the reluctor (I think that’s what its called) has broken I’m currently struggling to find the replacement part, any one got any ideas? New replacement costs £381 or I can get a Mallory duel point dizzy for £246, anyone got any views on the Mallory? I can’t seem to get a second hand one for love nor money!!!

Don't bother replacing the orinal dizzy, they're notoriously unreliable. I fitted a Mallory dual point to mine, easy install and it runs better than it's ever done. Don't think I paid that much for mine, I've got a figure more like £150-£175 in mind but I might be remembering wrong. Got it from Real Steel.

I damaged my pick up module years ago and was quoted a silly price. Aldon Automotive, Brierly Hill, B'ham supplied me with one for about £65 ish. Make sure you describe the dizzy correctly and give them a part or body number. My guess is your dizzy will have an 8 pointed star which makes it a variable reluctor unit.

Later I got a Mallory Unilite which I really liked plus you can buy kits that allow all sorts of fiddling.

I never liked the dual point dizzy because it's got 2 sets of points and they both have to be adjusted and maintained. The Unilite is a piece of cake.
