can anyone tell me the thread size of a rover v8 water temparature sender port? i have bought all manner of adaptors to fit a 1/8 nptf sender into an edelbrock performer manifold! but i cannot find the right one! i have tried 3/8 bsp, 3/8 npt, 1/4 npt and none fit!

If it's Yank, it could be UNC or UNF. Or metric. Or something by the SAE...

Sorry, no help, as usual.

ian i have also tried metric bolts in the port and it was halfway between m14 and m16, 1/2 inch unf was also too small! i would ring think auto but unless i can give them a size to go on, i think they might struggle, i would have thought it would be a direct replacement of a rover fitment ie. bsp can anyone confirm the original rover thread size?

You will probably find that its a tapered thread.

Had a quick look at my car and sticking my neck right out would say 1/4" bsp. But that would seem odd on a car...

thanks ian! standard rover port is 3/8 bsp! a helpful chap on the cobra forum measured his adaptor with a thread gauge and the edelbrock port is 5/8 unf, but thanks for trying anyway!
