I'm sure this has been posted several times but can someone point me in the direction of a good rolling road in the South. I have an Ultima GTR with Chevy 383ci bench dyno of 560bhp/540lb/ft so need somewhere professional where I can test the performance now it is in situ. Around Guildford/Wichester location.

I'm sure they are fine on modern ecu'd engines but I run a cobra with a 350 SBC with about 350 bhp. I'm assuming you are running a carb, maybe even a holly, or 2!
I wanted mine set up proerly on a rolling road with all the primary and secondary jets adjusted plus also the spring on the secondary side to bring it in at the right moment on the power & torque curve.
I had major problems finding a rolling road over 300 bhp and someone who really, really knew his way around a carb. Ask lots of questions as you can't afford some one making a 'guess' with your car.
Power Eng were ok but I wasn't convinced.
I have found Tom Airey tuning near Petersfield, Hants. He knows his way around a carb and even has some jets on the shelf!
The only problem for you is he's limited to about 400bhp I think.
The BEST people you can speak to are in Bristol. I can't remember them at the moment but there can't be many. Check out Yell. They specifically have V8 & Carb experience and have a 1000bhp road!!!!!!! They are used to seeing serious cars like yours.
Unfortunately they have atleast a months waiting list.
I will go there when I have my Nitrous fully installed and see if I can do a full power run with them.
Hope this helps a bit. Also I suggest if going for a proper set up buy & install an easy service kit if your secondaries are sealed, plus an easy access plate for the secondary spring. All makes changing very quick and will save you hours of wasted dyno time. Also get a selection of jets on sale or return so you can really get the optimum set up.

I don't think I would want the boys at Power Engineering tuning my injected car either as they are more used to rice rockets and RS Turbos. However, the original request was for a rolling road, not tuning expertise which is usually seperate.

I have seen a lot of negative stuff about PE on other forums which may or may not be deserved. I only dealt with them once when asking for centreforce clutch info. They were deliberately unhelpful and evasive. They basically didn't give a damn so I went to centreforce direct and eventually bought a Mcleod twin plate. It was brilliant and I will buy Mcleod everytime if an AP unit can't do the biz.

Thanks for this bit of advice. Very useful. I contacted Power engineering - they only do 400BHP and seemed very vague. I really only saw the benefit of a rolling road if they actually tune the engine to maximum potential now that it was in the car. I will contact the Bristol group.

Rolling road was 'interesting'.
Essentially I got what I wanted which was an excellent setting up of the engine/carb on my car.
Tom Airey did a brilliant job and knew what he was doing and filled me with a good sence of security. I had a lucky guess when I fitted the quick change kit on my Holly secondary side and guessed at the jet sizes. They were spot on. On the primary (stock) side it was running way to lean and after correctly changing the jets found another 40bhp purely on the primary side.
I was however disappointed as the rolling road was quite old, there was no dyno sheet and Tom agreed £120 on the phone, and then told me £200 when I came to leave. Now I know his experience comes at a price, but his did quote me £120, and his excuse was 'that sort of power really takes it out of my equipment'. Bitter taste in mouth.
For the record his dyno ran off the scale and he had to estimate a bhp top end figure of 320.
Ok, I'm not after a figure to willy wave at the bar with, and I did get my car set up properly, but the episode cost me £100 per hour on old equipment which is much more expensive than anyone else, plus I have no real idea of exact power. The engine manufacturer did quote 350, but we all know thay bull s**t anyway.
