Hi,

Over the last few months I have been fabricating a custom roots blower kit for a 2002 celica, its all in and running now, but I'd like to ask if anyone is aware on how to reduce the noise produced from them.

I did hear that it was all down to the air box design? as current I am running just a low cost cone filter, but up from 5psi through to 10.5psi its so loud! I have something wrong I am sure! but I think it must be the air box.

Any one in the know here??

I have attached a short 0-60 run to show you what I mean.

LOL Sounds like someone screaming. Have you looked in the boot Sorry.
I suppose the first place to start is to prove where the noise is being emitted from. Presumably this is coming out the induction side. Can you experiment with making changes to the induction and see if it affects the issue? i.e. remove/change filter and see if it is better or worse, rig up some sort of baffle to change the airflow etc.
I'm not familiar with this so am suggesting some basic fault finding techniques to get you started. Once you have proved the source you can then start working on a remedy.
Best of luck

It may be intake resonance. Ideally you need a straight run of several inches upstream of the intake, and avoid any large flat surfaces that can resonate. From the volume, it almost sounds as if you have a toothed drive belt. You don't, do you?

Hi

I dont have a toothed belt just a PK6.
Playing around with it I got to a point when it didn't run loud! The problem was as stated, its mostly the run length of the inlet as I have it all instant with no length.

Also have noticed the stock inlet manifold has seperated! holding it together makes it sound a hell of a lot less.

so all in all it was the inlet and outlet. thanks for the advice I will get me a new manifold made
