I have jsut bought one of these engines complete with all the ancillaries on a bit of a whim really.

Does anyone know anything about the TT conversion?

Apparently the engine is good but the turbo bearings have failed. I intend to have a bit of a play and see what I can do.

Not this one by any chance?

I was thinking of bidding for it, I've done a bit of work on the single turbo conversion, but never the twin, let us know how you get on.

Expect to pay around £200-500 to get the turbo fixed, assuming you can still get the bits. Give TT a call about it. (get the exact model number of the turbo, as they no longer support the kits)

Thats the one!

Seems really really good. Turbo also looks fine so I think their diagnosis is wrong. the TT kit is actually very well thoughtout. I was quite surprised.

I havent really decided what to do wih it yet. Probably put it im my new challenge 90 special.

Just to add Turbo is a Garrett unit so should prove no probs.

Do you have a part or model number, just for curiosity

I will have a look tonight. Spent a bit of time trying to decipher the wiring looms last night! That's going to be fun!

I bought an XR4x4 2.8 many years agho with a TT conversion. I took the car to TT for them to have a look. They sent this old chubby guy out to the car park to poke around under the bonnet. Turns out he designed the kit originally. He showed me which bits were missing:
1. the heat shield which prevents the turbo from melting the ignition
2. the alloy lump which goes in the metering head to rich'en the mixture
So all in all well worth the trip.
