Water Pump Change on Focus 1.6 Petrol.
Discussion
Is it still under warranty?.I would ask.If it is the same as my 2 ltr,it should be a simple job of removing the auxilary belt and taking it out.Best to remove the pulley bolts before removing the belt,or you won't get to the pump bolts.Make sure you use the pink anti-freeze coolant on refill.

Dunno.
The car was puchased new from a UK dealer in March 2005.
The warranty information suggests that it had a 12 month Base Warranty.
It appears that there was a 24 month Optional Extended Warranty which has to be purchased or registered during year one. Needless to say, I didn't bother.
I was under the misapprehension that it came with a 3 year warranty.
Ho hum.
its got 3 year warranty, the 2 year part your talking about is called a dealer warranty, as opposed to manufacturers warranty, and unless ford is different to every other manufacturer then its all done automatically.
Take the car in and see if water pump is covered I cant imagine it not being but you never know. If it isn't do it yourself. Not a big job.

I've had warranty work done outside the 1st year and I didn't register anything. Dealer's normally like a bit of warranty work as it is a nice earner from the manufacturer. Complain hard enough and you will get it sorted and I really can't see any warranty officer at Ford turning this one down.

Went into the main dealer this morning.
They confirmed that in principle the car has a three year warranty.
This is, naturally, subject to appropriate servicing.
They were a bit unimpressed that I had done the first service myself, but upon production of a receipt to show that I had used genuine Ford parts, they have agreed that the warranty has not been invalidated and have agreed to replace the water pump FOC.
The job is booked in for tomorrow morning, which is pretty quick.
Thanks, all.
