Been having a bit of trouble with the car. From time to time it will just stall, either that or misfire and pogo down the road for a while. I have had it in at a VW specialist and when put on the diagnostics it comes up with an intermitent fault with the lambda sensor. I have just had the lambda sensor replaced and it is still doing it. Today the garage are looking at the wires between the lambda sensor and the engine management system. Anyone got any other ideas? All help appreciated.

Its possible that the wiring is damaged/incorrectly fitted.
Its also possible that there could be RF interference from ignition sources causing the intermittant.
Also there may be a "download" available to upgrade the management system.
Peugeot do this with every vehicle that comes in, its a modified map that removes running faults and changes the engines performance.
Just a thought.

I got a thought.
Check the intake air pipe, the convoluted one that joins the air flow meter to the plenum .
Bet ya its got a split! Well id reckon it has, and itd put the lambda sensor up as intermittant too.
This sounds pretty much what it could be, cos when accelerating itd open and close a possible split causing the symptoms you described.
Hope this helps.

deltaf, you may have a poiunt there, I used to have an induction kit on it and from time to time it would play up and make the engine stall. I found that if I twisted the induction kit slightly I could make the engine stall on demand. If there was a split in that pipe it would explain this aswell. The problems currently useually occur on start up, when I put my foot down and when the revs have been high and then drop fairly quickly, for instance when I have been pressing on and then stop at a junction. Anyway as I said earlier all help appreciated.

The stalling problem you're seeing is well known in Corrado circles, although I'm fortunate not to have suffered from it on mine.

Look through the archives at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Corrado-UK/messages/ and you'll probably find mention of your problem as its very common and often discussed.

I've posted a request on your behalf to the guys on the Corrado Mailing List, by the way. Hope you don't mind (can't see how you would).

Regards
Jon

If the lambda sensor was shafted it could kill your cat, so just as well you changed it.

It could be the hose, which would lean off the mixture.
It could also be a partially blocked fuel filter, which will have the effect of reducing fuel pressure in the high pressure rail (what supplies the fuel to the injectors).

I would try changing the plugs, and the fuel filter.
Although the VR in the corrados doesn't actually need the platinum plugs, I found it did stop my VR from occasionally playing about. Best place to buy these is from Euro car parts.

Next, you could try cleaning the Idle stabilisation valve with carb cleaner.

Hope you get it sorted.

Cheers,
John.
P.S. i'm posting 'cos JRB mailed me for advice on your behalf. I've got to agree that if you want help with the VR, there are two main places to try.
The first is to join the corrado club of GB and then ask the Tech Know people, and the second is to join the yahoo groups and ask on there.

Think the cars sorted now. Turned out it was a wire that went to the air flow meter, the rubber sleve had a slight split in it and it would appear that some water had got in and shorted a couple of the wires. So the repair was free, trouble was its cost me £450 to sort it.
