What do you need to do after you have fitted new camshafts to your engine? i.e. to optimise the power?
Cheers

Ideally, you will need a rolling road session:
1) Optimise the cam timing using vernier timing sprockets
2) Optimise ignition timing
3) Optimise fuel map.

Items 2) and 3) will usually involve reprogramming the ECU on modern cars (in the olden days it was a matter of swinging the dizzy and perhaps altering the advance curve with different springs or weights, and playing around with different jets in the carburettor). If you are serious about it, you may also be looking at a different exhaust and/or different induction (bigger carburettors in the old days, bigger throttle body(s)/injectors now), along with porting work on the cylinder head to optimise gas flow.

Camshaft modifiactions rarely work well on their own - they need to be part of a 'package', really.

Cheers for that The plan is to get an induction kit, a decat SS full system and either reprogram/remap the ecu or change it. The car is a 172 Mk2. Trying to aim for about 200bhp.

200bhp should be reasonably easy to acheive from a Clio 172; just take advice from a reputable specialist on the kit you need, to ensure that everything works together.
