I'm using this box in a 120Bhp kitcar which is soon to be running a 155Bhp Zetec 1.8 -will this toast the box in time?

The car competes in the 750MC kitcar champ and the box was reconditioned a couple of years ago.

I am hesitating at spending £800 on putting Quaife or similar straightcut gears into the casing due to the expense.

The issue isn't going to be torque capacity because a 1.8 isn't really going to make that much torque, however it needs to rev. This is where the 2000E gearbox is going to be marginal, the synchros will age fairly rapidly when subjected to a lot of high energy engagements - and that is what you will be doing.

I would think you are best off looking in Motorsport News for a secondhand MT75 that has had some money spent on a gear kit.

My 2---E box broke on 2 litre of mild tune pinto .. though I suspect the interlock on my 3 rail version failed as the box was just a mess of broken bits in the bottom of the casing. totally destroyed. it failed on a 2nd to 3rd change so i think it had both gears engaged at once ...
