During a long 750 mile round trip, I finally got a decent result, on a sunny day at Santa Pod.

Big MPH for a 10. ... by the looks of the 60 you might have had some traction issues?

Well done fella!

Yes and No.

On that run, Ive had the best traction Ive ever had, so it wouldnt be fair to say that I had traction issues, as it did seem to grip very well.
Compared to drag cars that run drag orientated setups, with autos, and super sticky tyres, then yes, my 60ft adn traction in general isnt that good.
But to make that same comparison, I would say that those same 10s cars have poor terminal speeds, and certainly couldnt/wouldnt be driven almost 800 miles to and from the strip.

Just cars built for different things really. The terminal does inspire me that I must be making a little bit of power though :-)

As with Joels car, we know there is huge room for improvement on the launch, and subsequent 2-300 feet, but as to wether its possible to achieve those gains, without destroying other areas of the car, is a bit harder to say.

That said, I'm pretty confident I'll see marked improvements in the 60ft and beyond with the new MT DR's
The Nitto's are tame by comparison.

Thats a bloody good time, id like to see it with slicks and get those 60s down in the 1.5s think you could even dip into the 9s with that. your dead right about the mph 145 in the quarter is well impresive, we run 140 in 9.75 with our car but thats with the aformentiond sticky drag tires, auto box, trans brake etc.

Much respect, although i think you could work on your reaction times LOL.

Ive no interest in using slicks.

Any of the events I intend to run at, require "road legal" tyres.

I'm also still using the standard T56, so thats only a matter ot time too, and I dont think it would like the idea of slicks. Even the MT DR's will be pushing it.

Rear end is a 4linked Ford 8.8" axle, with a Torsen diff, 3.55 CWP, and 28 spline Moser axles. Hindsight would have seen me with 31 spline, but thats the way things go.
Using a pair of 1.9" AVO coilovers ( purely as they were easy to fit in the space I had )

I need a rear ARB, but as yet that hasnt happened.

I was running 175/200lb springs, left and right ( increased right to try and resist chassis twist....no idea if thats wise or dumb )

I intend upping the springs to eitehr 225 or 250lb. Still undecided, but will probably just do them evenly this time, and perhaps sort an ARB over the winter, if I can find a suitable shaped one.

Overall weight is about 1600kgs, I think something like 900 front, 700 rear.

Tyres were Nitto 245/50x16 at 14psi cold.

Next time out, I might disconnect the front ARB, and adjust front shocks to min setting, as well as running the new MT DR's

Sounds like a lovely peice of engineering. think your on the right track with the springs a lot of the doorslammer guys i know do that, does it effect road handling though?
ever thought of running in the street eliminator class

right track as in different poundage L+R ?? or simply going harder ?

Whilst I do use the car on the road, its not exactly a back road racer. So the springs dont feel too bad, but the car is defo too soft.
I now firmly believe it is too soft for good traction though.

I did consider enlisting on the SRS series, but with me living in Northern Ireland, travelling over to compete in any race series, is just impossible.

I can only get over as and when I can afford to, if the car is in a raceable state.

I'd love to get over more often, but its just not possible. As for competing in a race class....I would think safety matters might come into play ??

I dont want to have to cage my car.

Im sure the 4-link bars could also be improved, but that would compromise its free movement for road use. Although pretty sure I could easily drop the 2 lower rear mounts at the track, which should improve the IC quite a bit.
Dont really want that hassle. I prefer to arrive, swap the tyres and race. Simple, and hassle free, and requires minimal tools.

get what you mean about not wanting the hassle especialy as its a true streeter.
soz meant on the right track with diferent spring rates left to right, morroso offer kits off the shelf like that. playing with four links can be much fun its lovely watching a car launch and you can see air under the front tyres.

I just love the street sleeper style of it, bet its great watching boy racers jaws drop when you dissapear into the distance

Just found some photos on the Santa pod photograhes website...

Have to buy them to see them, but the thumbnails look good.

I didnt realise the front lifted so much !!!!! and that wasnt even my best run lol.

Nice to see the rear isnt compressed too much either....

I ordered a pair of 250lb srpings today. Just have to see how they perform, along with the MT's at the end of the month at TOTB

Fantastic performance Stevie

1600 Kg + say 100Kg for yourself = 1700kg ,

145mph with 1700Kg is 850 BHP,at the crank !!!!!

10.5 is 'slow' for 145, fully set as a drag car would see a 9.4
