Clutch Release arm... WTF !!
Discussion
Clutch pedal gave up thought it was the slave cylinder so quick job & have a spare.
Changed and bleed (with the help of a not very happy Mrs S ) problem solved...
NOT
The pivot in the middle of the release arm has pushed a bl00dy hole in the arm !!!!
Anyone replaced the release arm via the inspection hole on a T5 bell housing ?? Is it possible ??
Fervent prayer

I would guess the release arm goes round the 1st motion shaft? or at least would be so hard to seperate and re attach to the release bearing its not worth it, engine out time I'm afraid, frustrating thing is its only a 5 min job once your in there!
Ages since i've done a clutch but was hoping the release arm might just have two fingers that go around a shaft and rest on the bearing.
I will be going in from the other end if it's not possible in situ...

Looks from the photo like a cup shape in the arm just sits against the ball pivot and that the ball has worn through the cup.
How about making a new cup and spot welding it into place?
Steve
It's more that the cup has sheared around 70% of the circumference.. A new arm is only £30 so thats what it will be.. How about making a new cup and spot welding it into place?
Steve
Thought i might be able to replace without gearbox removal if the arm had fingers but not the case
Not much access to spot on a new cup also would need a better welder than me
I have heard in the past that it's wise to replave the lever arm when you change the clutch.. guess not everyone does it..
I believe the box can be dropped in a griff and is only around 6 hrs labour - be glad you don't have a wedge that's an engine out job with 12 hrs hard labour.
Worth phoning around for quotes - some places (Dream Machines) even collect for free..
