BMW Trans Prog Error

I apologise for double post, but I thought Id get more response in here:

Ive just fired my car up so I can move it to clean the interior after this weeks work and when I put the key in the ignition the OBC came up with Trans Prog Error

Im assuming this isnt at all a good thing, but what exactly does it entail?

At the moment I cant afford to take it anywhere and I was due for MOT and Tax next week....

Ive got a bad feeling about this one

BTW its a 1992 E32 730iSE

Ok its come up with the error twice today, but not in the past 2 times Ive been out and along the street!

This is bloody confusing
