Oil Pressure Good, But Oil Light Keep Coming On!! Help!!

I'm looking at a Rover 3500S to buy, and went and had a look at it.

It registers good oil pressure and the gauge moves happily, so it is working, but on idle the oil light comes on, even though it is registering just under 30psi.

Any ideas at all?

Get it checked with a separate gauge to eliminate the possibility that the gauge is knacked and reading over, if it's OK change the switch.

checked the levels?

some sensors will play hell if they're not submerged, depending where it takes its reading from this could cause a problem.
