cv boot replacement
Discussion
Evening all.
Just spent the best part of two hours trying to replace a cv boot on a honda civic (1.6lsi '97), but having one big problem.
I haven't worked on cars for a while due to having newer ones, but recently bought a MOT failure from a friend. All it needs is two new cv boots (outer) fitting as I've done the rest. So..
...I seperated the bottom ball joint, trackrod ball joint, repmoved the caliper and brake disc. There seems to be enough movement to pull out the splined end from the wheel hub, but it just won't budge. I've tried heat, WD , big hammers etc , but I can't shift it - am I missing something??????
PLease Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely no idea what you're talking about, but if it helps the CV inner is often held onto the shaft by a circlip in each side and these stop you pulling the splined shaft out of the middele of the joint. It might be worth checking whether the joint at the other end of the shaft is easier to get off, because of course you can get at both boots if you have either end off and you might get lcky and find the inner one is bolted on.
