Hi All
I recently bought the kids a Peugeot 306 1.6 with 5 speed manual.

Thing is, when pulling away in 1st gear, if using any sort of power, there is a vibration that sound like something is not quite engaging, I dont believe its the clutch, although it is wearing, you can engage gears easily and there is minoimal slip. It will need changing soon, but, this does not happen in any other gear.

Look forward to hearing from you

I'm thinking it's the springs on the clutch disc that dampen clutch engagement, they get weak over time, with all of the heating and cooling cycles. If the clutch is near needing replacement the springs are probably shot.

My 205 used to suffer from this really badly, reason was the engine mounts were shot, causing the whole engine to judder! thinking about it, a 1.6 306 uses a different type of gearbox, buts its still aplicable i guess.

Thanks,
Trooper2, I think you may have a point it would explain why its ok in other gears and only happens when you need to move quickly at a junction, the rest of the time its not getting loaded up!

Badders, I did look at the engine mounts, but they seem fine, and its fine in every other gear, it is a very strange vibration, and it only happens whilst pulling away, after that its fine.

When you say look, do you mean look, or did you get a metal bar and try to move them?
If you do replace them don't forget to support the engine!!
