M14x1.5 sounds credible, but I can check the thread tonight if you want. They're a standard thread anyway. You managed to strip one?

Well yes and no....

I didn't think there was anything metric on an RV8 engine being the grand old design it is, didn't stop me buying an M18 oil filter adaptor for it though (doh)

The engine is out while I do the clutch, and I've noticed (amongst other things) that #4 plug hole has some flat threads over the bottom 1/4 or so of the hole (the end closest the piston), checking things, the plug doesn't go as deep at the others on that side which appear to line up neatly, so I though now would be a good time to chase things out. Curious how its the bottom half and not the top half.

Is the plug pulling down tight onto the crush washer?

Can't think of anything that would damage the bottom of the thread, the top would be most likely to get knackered I would have thought.

most of the threads are flat at the piston end, this is due to the fact that you dont want sharp edges anywhere near the combustion chamber for fear of hot spots, if the plug didnt go down all the way as v8s states the cylinder would have either blown the plug out the head or at least been blowing by the plug?

Thanks.

Sorry for the delay, was at a trackday in the BM yesterday, loads of fun, just need to double (or more) the power of the engine so I'm not out gunned on the straights.

BOOSTED...dump an LS6 in my e30 would you old chum?

Please please don't tempt me...I'll need a home for my current engine if i "upgrade" to say a 4.6 over the winter...I'm already thinking of turning the e30 into a trackday blatter, strip the inners out, then a pair of bucket seats, harnesses and a cage, decent shocks and bigger brakes...I reckon 1k tops...

...so about the RV8 conversion, you say its easy to do, do you still have it, could I take a look?
