I can't help you with a site or the Skyline stuff but I know the BMW inline six weights quite well- broken down also.

Sorry about the delay mate:

Cast iron block BMW M50 (As fitted to early E36 325 and 320is-non VANOS)
198 kgs.
BMW M52 engine-single VANOS, alloy block (as fitted to E36 323i and 328is etc etc) 160 (dry)- 170 kgs(wet)
With dual VANOS and "torque based" ECU mapping weight went up to 180 kgs (M54 in the E46 was it?)

These above weights are taken from "The History of BMW Engines" considered a definitive technical guide. In addition- I have weighed the 328i M52 myself, and broken it down (all in Kgs-sorry Americans!).

Exhaust Manifold 5.5

Crank shaft including drive sprocket 23.750
Main bearings 2.870
Air filter 1.820
Cam drive * 0.550
Oil Filter 0.252
Oil Pump 1.100

Con rods 3.588
Anciliary belt drive 2.650

Starter 3.250
Water pump 1.007
Ignition system 2.446
Cylinder head complete 37.650
Cam Cover 2.000
Total weight 159.817 Kgs

The S50 321 bhp 3.2 litre BMW "evo" M3 engine weighs
220 Kgs (similar if not a little MORE than an S38 3.8 litre 340 Bhps straight six M5 engine!!)

Makes an interesting comparison with the V12 2 valver BMW (alloy block) of 250 Kgs

And just for reference some of the weights of the OLDER 2 valve BMW engines

M20 (2 valver as fitted to 1980s 323i, 325i etc etc) 175 Kgs
M30 (trusty 2 valver BMW straight six) 200-210 kgs (depnding on spec and year)

I hope this helps

Crikey, A fully dressed LS1 or LS6 Chevy V8 Weighs the same - and is more powerful and dare i say cheaper to purchase, tune and rebuild.

YES! Indeed, when you look at HP/weight the M engines aren't quite as glorious as their BHP/litre hype might have you believe. That data was directly measured and was NOT published in the official BMW book I mentioned, few of the M engines were...I wonder why!!
