Help needed with engine cooling system on S14 200SX.

I had to change the turbo water inlet pipe (it was leaking) but now I seem to have an air blockage which will not shift.

The fan cuts in as normal, and air bubbles appear in the expansion tank, but the temp gauge just keeps on climbing.

It was all running fine before I had to replace the pipe.

Any tips on how to bleed the system to shift the air block?

There is a bleed on the back of the water pump / thermostat casing but all I get is air / steam mixture.

I don't want to keep running the engine with the gauge rising else I will do some serious damage no doubt.

Help please.......

When you run the engine make sure the heater is on full heat and double check all around the system for any additional bleed points, they're usually on the high points.
Also squeeze hoses with the bleeds open and keep running it until you get water out of the bleeds not just steam and air.
If the engine is getting too hot close the bleeds and stop and let it all cool down and open the header tank, once cool you'll often find you can now top the system up a bit.
Difficult airlocks often take a few cycles like this to shift

Hello Matt,

With the heater set to full, should the AC be on or off? Should the fan be on or off?

The pipe to the top of the rad is red hot, and the return is stone cold, suggesting to me that there is no flow (?).

So far I have only found one bleed, but will continue to look for others. I am surprised there is not another around the inlet manifold side.

I will try a couple of cycles and see what happens.

Thank you.

Heater on full and opening the bleed screw while the engine was still warming up seemed to push the air through.

All working fine now.

Thank you.
