4 days out of warranty
Discussion
I use a v6 24 valve auto galant as a work horse. we all know the the auto boxes/torque converters are prone to sudden and terminal failure, so heres the scenario!
12 months and 4 days ago I had a box failure, it was replaced by an independant who gave a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty on the recon unit. The gearbox and/or torque converter has now failed again. I have not been able to get in contact with said independant due to him being on holiday for the past week (bank hols and all that) so I am now 4 days out of warranty. I feel fairly certain that having now finally got in contact with him he will be reasonable, but what would you guys call reasonable?
Do you think that after taking the box out he will blame the converter and say therefore it is not a warranty claim (£450), do you think he will blame the box (£1100) or do you think hell go straight down the out of warranty route.
Bear also in mind that until it is dismantled niether of us know for sure which component has failed and I have no way of authenicating his diagnosis!
Place you bets here!!!

It makes no difference if its 4 days out of warrenty, the sale of goods act states that the item sold should last a reasonable length of time.Example you buy a £10 stereo and it breaks after 13 months,in all probability this would be considered reasonable. If you paid £1000 for a stereo an it broke after 13 months,it would almost certainly NOT be reasonable. In these examples its not down to the manufacturer to repair but the company tht sold you the goods.
The 12 month warrenty is provided by the manufacturer,do not confuse this with your rights under the sale of goods act
