scooby smells of oil
Discussion
What model ?
Oil leaks around the RHS cam cover are common, and it drips onto the exhaust manifold, and burns off creating a smell, but often no puddle on the ground.
What oil is it using ?? Dont use any of that thin pish, like 0/40 etc or 0 anything.
Something like Mobil 1 Motorsport 15/50 or similar, Motul, Millers.

That could be nasty !!! PAS is very flammable .
Do bare in mind, that if you do change the cam cover gaskets, you must also change the rubber washers under the bolts too..
Once they are old and compressed, they wont clamp the cover properly, so even with new gaskets, the covers can still leak.

bloody hell mate you had a lucky escape there, my range rover went up in flames due to a power steering leak onto the manifold! i used 3 extinguishers on it and still couldnt put it out, just had too watch until fireman sam turned up!!!!
My mates range rover hybrid met with a similar fate, water got into the autobox - which forced the oil back up the dipstick which is directly above the exhaust manifolds. The extinguishers got it out, but it oozed out again an caught alight - no more extinguishers left and they were half way down a green lane.
