i have a three yr old westfield, which i have owned for only a month, which now has a hole in the sump after bottoming out at the weekend. I see there are dry sump kits and also slim line sumps available - can anyone tell me which are the most successful/reliable, before i spend MORE money!!!

What sump have you got on it ? There are different sumps that dont require the use of dry sumping. If you use a dry sump system the bellhousing of the gearbox can end up as the next impact point if the car is too low.

I'm guessing it was just the standard sump on the engine, it hung down below the chassis and only allowed for about 2' of clearance when set on the highest ride height. I understand what your saying about the bell housing, as managed to loose a small lug off the bottom of that at the same time, not a good day!
