Ford DOHC heads
Discussion
Hi
I've got a 1991 ford DOHC as fitted to the Ford Scorpio rated at 125 BHP. I'm looking for a bit more OOMPH and was considering upgrading the head to the later 16Valve model (supposedly giving 150 BHP)What I'm not sure of is if the heads are completely compatible and if they are which models of engine this extends to.
Any knowldege opinions welcomed

mk5 escort rs2000 used a 16v head as did the late scorpio (on a 2.3 litre bottom end)
the head will fit the earlier block, but why not source the 2.3 unit? it would offer the benefits of lighter crank and conrods (sg iron), also the pistons were a lot shorter, so again lighter, making it more revvy. just have the flywheel skimmed down as it weighs a ton .

Hi
Seems a reasonable idea, I'm kinda uncertain about it, as the current unit has covered very little mileage (<20,000). Do you know if the 2.3 unit is based on the same block (i.e will it drop straight in) The engie is in a Marocs Mantula, and it's kinda tight for space
Cheers
