My son has an X reg corsa 1.2sxi - it has recently started to conk out regularly without any warning.
Electrics seem ok but it just turns and wont fire again - but it starts again when cold!
The RAC man suggested it was probably the fuel pump as they're notorious for this - is he right, and how easy a fix is it for a fairly average spannerman like me??

Any help/advice appreciated thanks.....

Does not sound like fuel pump to me, why would it start when cold but not hot? sounds more like a problem with the temperature sensor. Is it EFI or carb?

unless I'm mistaken, the sxi is fuel injected - I think...

Need to check whether you have sparks when it stops, suspect coil pack
or trigger, if not possibly pump or pump relay.

In this order of likelyhood.

Crank posistion sensor
Cam Posistions sensor (if fitted)
Coil Pack

Change the crank posistion sensor and if that doesn't fix it I'll be amazed. Common failiure mode is dying when hot but restart when cold.

Best Regards
