Hi

This question has been bugging me for some time now so I thought I'd ask opinions from other PHs,

During the build of my kit car I drained the fluid from the gearbox and removed the torque converter to drain the fluid from that, not long after replacing it I was told that I'd probably ruined the bearings and that I'd soon know about it.

What are your opinions please ?

If anyone's interested there's a bit about it on my website

My thoughts... Rubbish...

Of course, I may be wrong, and am more than happy to be corrected, but I see there being no problem with what you have done..

Im with slinky on this one.

I cant see how removing the torque converter (its meant to be removable) and draining out its oil will knacker any bearings in the box at all.
That is, so long as you refilled it before restart!

Otherwise its poppycock. Ignore.

Agreed. As long as it hasn't gone rusty or water allowed to get into it. To be fair, If you are going to store it, I would probably leave the oil inside it until its time to refit it.

Cheers for the answers, I thought at the time that it was a strange thing that I couldn't just remove and replace it, Its not as if I had to force it in anyway just line up the splines and push

Just an old wives tale I guess!
