MG Midget speedo cable location

Morning all

Was wondering if anyone may have any photos or can tell me the route the speedo cable takes from the speedo to the gearbox. Boyfriend has never had a speedo cable on it and is going to be putting the car on the road this year but doesnt have a clue where it goes as the car has never had one.

Any help appreciated.

Not sure about the exact routing but I can tell you drive pinion is on the left-hand side of the extension housing, behind the main gearbox - if that's any help.

Start by buying the new cable. Old ones will just give you problems.

There cannot be many options for how it departs from the dash and through the bulkhead so start there.
Determine where and how it fits to the box. I can't remember if it has a right angle drive adaptor or just goes straight into the box.

Once you know these the rest is just choosing a route that feels natural and does not kink or tight bend the cable and steers clear of the exhaust and manifolds.
