Rover k-series VVC head
Discussion
Cheers!
It seems the answer is not really:
The standard Lotus Elise series 2 111S (VVC engine) setup runs at 156bhp. With 1500 quid these guys can get one to run at 170(ish) by porting, timing, new exhaust cam, new throttle bodies, and doing a bit of work on the inlet and exhaust. Or they can just "block off" the VVC mechinism & replace the cams (e.g. bodge convertion to a standard head - though 'bodge' may be a bit harsh, I don't see why you wouldn't just swap the head for a standard unit in this case??).
Thanks again for the reply - at least I know what can be done now.

I believe the reason for using a VVC head rather than the normal one is that the ports and valves are bigger, among other differences. The blanking plate mod is quite a common thing, or you could buy a VHPD head if you can find one.
