But the wait for shipping is going to kill usl....

The order for the new engine parts was placed with Summit two nights ago... including....

1.) Dart Pro 1 top end kit which consists of ....

Fully Assembled Dart Cylinder Heads with 215cc intake runners/64cc chambers, 1.550" dual valve springs
Performance matched single plane intake manifold
Race spec Gaskets, head bolts, rocker covers etc etc etc....

2.) Eagle 383 stroker kit
Fully Balanced Cast Steel Crank, pistons, etc etc etc

I can't help thinking that next season may well be rather fun

How does circa 475Hp and 450 lb/ft sound?

Sounds like a surprisingly realistic estimate for an American V8! You'll probably be one of the FEW people NOT dissappointed when you get it on the rollers/dyno!

Well the boxes should be shipped from Summit today, quite amazingly all of the items were in stock!

Fingers crossed that the shipping goes without a hitch.. If it does, we should be picking up a crate from BHX late this week early next week... Then we get to build the screamer!!!

Cannot wait

One step at a time sir!!

Believe me when I say we REALLY want a supercharger, but we're racing out of our pockets, not on credit cards!!!

That's not to say it won't appear in the future!

A pair of turbo's would be lovely, but that's even more expensive than an S/C... TT SBC's are the engines of choice for the winners in our equivalent class in the states tho!

Why not just go for a single turbo. Cheaper and a bit easier to engineer. One should be more than capable of making enough power.

Two banks of cylinders..
Two exhaust manifolds..

How would you go about using a single turbo?

Sounds cool Wil,

Let me know when you're racing next year and I'll try and get down and watch you. I'll bring the Nephew with me this time.

slinky, banks power in the states do a turbo kit for about $5K. thats a twin turbo kit and all the bits you need. you will need a intake and cabr or TBI injection (or port injection and cabr style throttle body)!!

as for the single it would be easy (yeah right) to do! if you have a look at a pair of ultima headers you could copy the basic layout and mount the turbo at the rear of the motor. then have the intake pulling form the nice ram air thingy you have on top ar current. as for the boosted air, well there are loads of guys running near 1000bhp on SBCs with no intercoolers, just water and meth injection. but im also sure you could rig up a nice big ice box and then just pipe into a single plane intake! easy hehehe

thanks Chris.

Or alternatively a Weiand charger kit from Summit would probably only set us back about $3.5k...

But then we need to look at upgrading the rear end to cope with the extra power, considering a variety of other upgrades as well...

At the end of the day, we'd love to do all of this, but we are bracket racing, so consistency is the key...

That's not to say we don't want crackling pipes tho

Without sounding sarcastic, link them together. Voila, one pipe to attach to the Turbo. it is that simple.
There are plenty of single turbo V8's out there making a lot of power ( Im mostly interested in LS1's, as thats what I also run, albeit supercharged, but Im sure there are plenty of other engines ), and they are usually more cost effective than twins, although in a road car can be tricker to package, or in some cases easier..

Here are a few links to guys building LS1 single kits. Some full DIY, some kits made by tuners.
www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=409723
Some good pics on this one
www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384351

If you search through that forum, you will find plenty more. Some good guys there. Jose/JZ 97 SS 1500 is a very smart guy when it comes to turbos.

Here is another single kit
www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=380769&highlight=phamspeed

Some may look crude, while they may lack in some areas, they are still capable of making a lot of power.

Hell, there are even a few road legal cars running in the 9's in the US with a turbocharger mounted at the rear axle !!!!!!!!!!!

I kid you not !!!!!

I understand what your saying chap and I'm not knocking you, but we're not in the market of re-inventing the wheel...

I can see the benefits entirely.. but there are so many solutions that already exist for rails running SBC's...

Fair play to those that are doing it tho!

In the meantime, I just want our 383 to be ready!!!
