Having worked out the gearing, it looks like I need a final drive ratio of about 2.6:1 Any ideas??

Sorry, but don't know of any production diff with such high gearing. Looks like you need either a complete special diff or a special crownwheel and pinion for a production diff.

Thats what I was begining to think unfortunately. I was going to look at getting a crown wheel and pinion made for an MX5 diff. Also looking at running the engine west east so that I can use chain drive. Due to lack of space, I would need to run the diff and engine at different heights to get the chain length. This would mean that the engine would be quite low compared to the axle line; Any other problems that you can see?
