Searched for "rover diesel engine" and derivatives, finding nout, so posted new thread, sorry for lack of zeal, but I aint got loads of time

Missus and I like idea of a rover 75 with 2.0 cdt engine.

Is this a reliable engine?
What other car manufacturers use it?
Should we be looking to get one under ??thousand miles as we will be putting 60k on it in the next five years?
I.E. What major expense occurs at what mileages?

Cheers, folks of knowledge, in anticipation.

Out of interest, are you a member of the MG Rover forum at http://forums.mg-rover.org/ ? It might be worth a sniff around there. Obviously there's a bit of a bias in regards to MGR, but there are some very knowledgable people on there. I know 'nowt about diesels, but they would be able to tell you how to spot the BMW powered versions which it's my understanding are an excellent engine...

No, the CDT won't pull the skin off a rice pudding.

However, if you get the CDTi, it is much better.

A lot newer than most of the CDT's as well.

IIRC there were 2 tractor engines in the 75, the rover L series, as in my ZS (is in the ZS in 100 and 115Bhp varients), and a BMW engine which may be 135Bhp in the 75, don't quote me on that though.

http://forums.xpowerforums.com/ May be worth a try for more info on them.
