I'm getting desperate for an ECU suited to my 2.5 V6 Duratec engine. I'm not after anything too sophisticated as it is for a road car, but if it can give me functions like launch control, traction control, NOS injection etc etc then I wouldn't object.

Is there anyone in the UK that covers the Duratec ?

DTA (www.dtafast.co.uk) P8Pro is what I am fitting to my Nissan 3.0 V6. Complete with traction control, launch control, sequential injection, individual coil per cylinder, data logging etc etc etc.

Costs about 850 quid though but if you went through someone like Aldon's they'll give you a discount.

Others are Weber Alpha (Aldon's again) MBE, Emerald, OMEX etc.

Thanks denisb - I have emailed them for more info.

Sorry to sound a bit green ..... but have you got a contact address for Aldon's??

*edit* I just Googled and found them

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a response direct from DTA, they only really like dealing directly with engine builders/dyno'ers.

Going through Aldon's would be better/easier (you need to speak to Roger, you could mention me but I don't THINK you will get any extra money off!).

DTA are more geared up for emails. Always reply to mine. Emerald have a pretty interesting ecu which is a bit cheaper but not as good. Still good enough for a road car though.

I am using an Autronic on my TVR early days but we seem to be getting good results

When I asked Emerald for a quote, they said they were too busy to look into the V6! So of course I'm going elsewhere. They must be doing so well, they can afford to turn business away.

I'd have an Autronic..

The best on the market by far.

Was that recently or a while back? They have just done a nice setup for a 24v cosworth which as you know is a V6.

Vixpy, Autronic is a top end unit but it's not the best by far, just very good

It was yesterday - maybe the Duratec is different to the Cossie one.

The mapping will be different but both are v6's. Maybe they are just to busy. My favourite is DTA, they have a new unit just released.

....But apparently they havent done a V6 Duratec yet. They will be doing one 'in a month or so' at a price of £1295 + VAT. Not sure if my budget will allow that!

Are you expecting to buy an ecu ready mapped? If so that's not going to work, you will have to map it yourself.

And wire it up......

Unless you go for the likes of a Motec and buy an adaptor loom.

Then it gets very expensive.

I'd say the DTA is plenty for what you need. It seems to be working fine for me on my V8.

Most manufacturers supply a base map with their ECU (assuming they have covered the engine before) I am quite prepared to have a rolling road session to fine tune but I want to be fairly confident that the system will allow my engine to run 'out of the box'. It is strange that no one seems to have mapped a V6 Duratec before - just the 4 pot.

Omex...they cover the duratec and are cheap too. They also have all the features you need.

Emerald are very busy for a reason, their kit works and they're proper down to earth guys with a passion for cars, not sales-orientated companies like some on the shortlist.
There's only one guy who does the ecus and electronics/software stuff at emerald, that's karl .. one of the most gifted and nicest guys you could ever meet in the tuning industry, but he's only one person and can't do everything at once unfortunately.

I'm sure they didn't mean any harm by politely turning you away, but they get cars sent to them from all over the world so some things are towards the end of their very long list of stuff to get involved with.

The V6 duratec especially in turbo form though is a healthy engine so I'm sure they'll be involved at some point...
