Hello looking for some possible advice I’m going to try book in next week but wife’s car upon cold start up has started making a squealing sound then goes away after about 10 seconds I had a look while she’ started the car and sounds like it’s coming from auxiliary belt is there anyway I can find out myself if it’s the belt a pulley or the tensioner appreciate any advice or help.

Likely just a tired belt. Tensioner will be automatic so nothing to adjust. Bearings will be sealed so there is nothing to grease.

Mechanic would probably just whip off the belt, spin up the idlers to check the bearings, and renew as required.

If the bearing is bad on a water pump or something you might be in for a new one of those.

Thanks for the reply I have a mate who works for Kia said he would fit it for me so maybe start with a new belt then as think only about £25

Sorry one more thing I’ve found one in at euro car parts after putting in my reg but looking it up online looks like it’s the wrong one even with reg details as mine has stop/start which requires a different belt might ring tomorrow up tomorrow double check

I'd also go for it being an old worn belt - start up on squeal, esp if a lot of electrics inc aircon are turned on - is common.
The drain on the battery results in the alternator working harder, almost like a brake, & it shows up belts that need re-tensioning or replacing.
