Hi All

Boyfriends has had his Rover 400 since March and recently when you start it, it runs lumpy (it sounds like it is only running on 3 cylinders). Also sometimes when it sits there you can hear the revs lowing and highing... It seems to rev up and down between 750-1500. Sometimes it nearly stalls when
idling as it only shows its idling at 500rpm when first started up...

Any ideas appreciated...

Is it a Rover or Honda engine, i can never remember which was which size. If Honda, it could be an air leak on the inlet manifold? I had this on a 2litre Accord, because the inlet manifold gasket to the cylinder head had failed.

It'll be a rover engine. Only the 600 had the 2 litre honda engine.

Most probably the coolant temp sensor by the sounds of things. Had to replace one on my Rover a while back as it was doing exactly the same thing.

They are fairly cheap and very easy to fit.....

of course, you could always buy this coolant temp sensor and get 620TI for free
