Im looking for a custom 3.5" exhaust. Can anybody recommend anywhere that can work with 3.5" pipe?
The only place I found so far is BTB exhausts who quoted £1800+VAT to create a system from the downpipe to the rear of the car which seems excessive for what it is.

any help & pointers greatly appreciated

its for a mitsubishi evo vi putting out 500+bhp ATW.
Needs to be good quality, light and if possible, within noise limitations for track days at UK tracks (circa 98db max).
Would love to do it myself but prefer someone who knows what they are doing.
thanks in adv.

Tony Law in Leeds will do a great job, but only works in mild steel (no stainless), but the system I had from hime was fine after 6 years and a mates was fine (with some box repacking) after 12 years!

why not speak to someone like norris designs, MADavelopments, or one of the other big evo tuners? they should beable to sort you out with a very good exhurst systems! norris is making 800bhp and MAD are running at over 900bhp i think!

also take a look on some of the US forums (like evolutionM.net) there are loads of tuners (busher, ams, RnR, etc, etc) that will kindly help you!

also i think 3.5 might be a little OTT! i hear that a too larger exhaust can slow spool up on Evos!

thanks Chris.

Custom Chrome in Nuneation should be able to help as they make sidepipes for Cobra replicas that are larger than 31/2". They also make special exhausts and do stainless steel. See www.custom-chrome.co.uk

Thanks for the comments all.
For database completeness: Haywood & scott can only work in 3" pipe.
I'll try others tomorrow.

We are at the limit with 600bhp and a 3" pipe, we expect to be able to release more power moving to 3.5". The engine is built by MA Developments.
Norris Designs are a good tuner but dont fabricate exhausts.
US suppliers tend to concentrate on Evo VIIs and upwards, the VI was never imported officially into the USA and therefore isnt very mass market over there. They would also need to get their hands on the car to fit up the custom exhaust and that would be tricky.

It seems very few places can bend 3.5" pipe.

Titanium workers whio can bend 3.5" pipe seem non existant, although a full exhaust weghing in at 5lbs soudns very desireable :-)

Although in the USA, try www.burnsstainless.com/index.htm
You probably wont find more exhaust components anywhere else.

I can vouch for these people. Their product is well made and is built to last. I have one their exhausts (ScoobySport) on my own car.

Nah. Best exhaust for a turbo car is none at all from the exhaust turbine back. Tubby provides all the backpressure you could ever want, and lots that you don't want.

It would be a little loud wouldn’t it?

Also if this is true why do cars that doing have to meet noise restrictions and generate high power levels not terminate after the turbocharger? (e.g. Indy cars)

Just as a side not does any one know how exactly you go about calculate most efficient exhaust diameter for a compressible gas? I’m familiar with calculations for incompressible liquids.

There are quite a few tuners that are using the APS stuff - they do an off the shelf 3.5" decat unit for evos (not sure about E6 though).www.g-force-motorsport.co.uk/aps_mits_exhausts.html

A few guys on MLR (www.lancerregister.com) have these units and rave about them.

Alternatively, there is a company called powerflow exhausts who may be able to help you. www.powerflowexhausts.net/home.cfm

Good luck.
