Exhaust assembly Q
Discussion
Air leaks in that area are bad news, so your well advised to use a seal/gasket of some kind.
Does the cat have a flat surface to the flange or is it the rolled type or push over type?
If it's the flat type, a new gasket and a thin smear of gasket paste will do the job.
If it's the rolled or pushed over type of joint, then make sure it's free from any loose crud and apply a liberal smear of paste to the surfaces and wipe off the excess after you've fitted them together.
Try and avoid too much though, you don't want a dollop of it rattling round inside the cat
