i think most of the top fuel drag guys are also using mopar block! an there is an article in hot rod magazine about a bolt on blower (6-71 roots thingy i think) that made 750bhp on pump gas! oh and that was on a crate motor!! pretty impresive engines i hear, hte heads flow very well i hear!

thanks Chris.

Yeah, why do all the top fuel dragsters use the hemi mopar engines?

I'm guessing there's some rule requiremtent that limits them to the hemi? Otherwise what's to stop them using a modified viper engine, or even aeroengines (merlins etc...)

Cos it's a good engine and there are tons of tuning parts. The Viper engine probably won't have the same stuff available.

Aero engines would weigh too much for drag racing, which is all about acceleration. They are used in tractor pulling though.

i think they use them coz the engine are sooo strong out the box. also the top ends flow very well for production items. both of these, plus others i don't know, mean they make better engins than say big block chevies! dont forget, top fuelrs run to a make of 500 cubic inch so a merlin engine would be point less. also the viper engine wouldn't be as strong! the cranks used in the Hemi's are about 20 degrees or so out of time, so that under full load (6000 + bhp and F**K knows how much torque) they twist to the right timing!!! now that bonkers!!!!! and if you did that with a V10 crank i think it would look more like a spring than a crank!!!!

thanks Chris.

I had one in the Moggy below once. Very strong engine indeed! You can buy every tuning part conceivable.
