Can someone explain just what they do are all about on a RV8.
The are connected to the Plenum just before the throttle bottle so I take air gets pushed into the Rocker.
Can they be improved anyway? asthetically

Thanks for any info :)

The breather is connected upstream of the throttle by a big pipe and downstream of the throttle by a restrictive pipe. At full throttle, positive pressure inside the engine is vented via the big pipe and drawn into the engine. At part throttle the suction in the intake manifold actively sucks gases out of the breather via the restrictive pipe. This means the inside of the engine will sometimes by under slight suction. The filter you see on the rocker cover allows air back into the engine when the engine is under suction. This means that there is a steady flow of air into the rocker cover, through the engine, out of the opposite rocker cover and back into the intake.

Edited to add: there was somebody on PH a while ago who made up very pretty shiny replacements for the oil trap.

Cheers Peter,

So could you use the V8 Edelbrock breathers? sure I have seen them on RV8 before.
