Heater problem...

Wife's 1993 Clio heater doesnt work. Blower works and hoses leading to heater warm up nicely.. but after initial nano second of heat it goes back to cold...
What could it be?

Could be a blocked heater matrix.

My brothers clio suffered from this.

He just swapped it with one from the scrappy, but he now has a different clio with the same problem, so it looks like it might be a weak point on them.

Getting the old one out may prove to be a problem depending on the engine. The engine bay of his current 1.8 16v is so crammed that it looks very difficult to get to.

if you decide to unblock it rather than go buy a new one, use some kettle descaler, it will work wonders if left in the matrix for a while...

xGF's 93 Clio had it too - flushed it numerous times, allways went cold again after a few weeks. Replacement was a complete dash out job (so I swapped it for a Mondeo
