Lady friend has a vauxhall Corsa

1.0 ecoFLEX 12V S Euro 5 3dr

Lost power over a day or so of driving and eventually conked out.

Mechanic hasn't had a chance to take a look and could be another week.

Is it an interference engine?

What would a strip down / replace potentially cost or us she looking at a recon engine?

Apologies for so little info but just trying to help her with possible costs / scenarios.

First obvious thing to do is diagnose what happened.

If the chain was to go, it would not lose power over a period of hours, it would go Kaput quickly.

I've never heard many good reports about the 3 cylinder engines in general. But you need to know what is wrong, before any attempt at a resolution is made.

Well my Mother in Law had a 55 plate one with only 27k on the clock, it started losing power and I stuck an OBD reader on it that showed a Lamda Sensor but it was the one on the exhaust so I declined to do it so She took it to the Local Garage who changed it but then said there was a misfire on Cylinder 2 which they couldnt fix despite a compression test, New spark plugs, a new coil pack and moving an injector from one cylinder to another, so they concluded it was the ECU, which after some digging is a common issue on these Corsas, apparently they suffer from water ingress, anyway its gone to Daddy Day Care and Shes now got a 19 plate Corsa
