Hello lads mate of mine is really in the mire regarding an over heating problem on his 2.0 VW. Any advice would be welcome, these are the problems.

Okay, this pig has 213,000 miles, on it. New thermostat, new waster pump, back flushed heater core, block and radiator - all appears to be right with the world. No heat output from the heater, water does not flow through the rad and she heats up and boils over in about five minutes.

No water or coolant in the oil and there doesn´t appear to be any blow-by into the coolant... hmmm. Starts up, idles smoothly and no steam in the exhaust plume.

We are getting ready to give it it's last rights but I am sure it can be fixed.

Thanks for any advice

Door.

I'd start by removing the thermostat completely and see if that gives circulation. If not then either there's a blockage, an airlock, or the water pump is in some way faulty.

Best of luck.

But did you try running it without a thermostat in place to check for heat circulation, or did you test the new thermostat in a pan of water on the stove to check opening temperature?

Yep we checked the t'stat, Tonights job is going to be to run the engine and pump the water backwards to try and break any air lock.

Thanks for the comments Nel

if you run it with the stat out the coolant will go the bypass route,so there would be not much pumped though the rad.
