I was just servicing my Volvo v60 D4. Or at least changing the oil filter and oil and some other bits.

With the engine cover removed high spotted oil all around this large hose join at the rear of the engine.

The oil has obviously built up over some time and was soaked around the hose and covered in sandy grit. So I've cleaned the area up now and will see if it comes back.

It doesn't look like it's dripping down from above anywhere so I guess it's coming out of the joint in the hose.

What does this hose do? And what would cause it to be so oily?

I would be agreeing, the ally pipe that it connects to looks like an intercooler fixed pipe.

I had this on my V40 D4 VEA.

The last two video inspections noted oil leak on the front IC hose to the TB.

They had also done the cam belt, as I drove home it went into limp mode. They had it back on and told porkies about cleaning the MAF. They didn’t as the thick layer of dust hadn’t been disturbed.

On way back limp mode again. Called Volvo assist. Codes read and it pointed to boost leak. He put his finger in a big hole! The oil had obviously caused the hose to deteriorate with all the heat cycles.

Ok thanks for the replies

Do you think this hose has a split in it then? I couldn't see one but I guess the split could be on the other side of the hose.

Does the hose normally have oil in it then that is coming out of a split or the join?

Is it engine oil?
