I don't think a type 9 would take the abuse of a V6 Alfa. You may be better off looking elsewhere for a box.God knows what though.I know that many years ago,in one of the kitcar mags,a gy put a V6 in a seven type car and if I can find the article, may shed some light on the subject.

The guy from the PPC forum sent this to me when I was asking about it, cos I'm considering dropping an Alfa V6 into my Tasmin

"The spigot bearing was a 16mmx23mm(o/d)x15mm(i/d) roller bearing from a company called BSL who deal in bearings £12 IIRC. If you want, I can find the packet with the part number on it.

I/we have used the Alfa clutch cover with a Ford 228mm friction plate (from a Focus TD, Galaxy etc...) to suit the Ford Type 9 'box (1"x 23 splines). I machined the gearbox mainshaft bearing carrier (nose trumpet) to take a hydraulic concentric slave cylinder (from a Mondeo/Focus etc..) but I have now found out that a Saab 900/9000 concentric slave will fit without the need to machine things!

The Ford CRB has a flat face and the fingers on the Alfa clutch cover are also straight which makes them incompatible. To overcome this, one of the conversions has a domed ring 'glued' to the Ford CRB. Another project has the Alfa CRB adapted to fit on the Ford slave.

On all of the projects, the Alfa sump was too deep. On one of the toys, I chopped 3" out of the sump and welded it back together. The others have handmade sumps of varying asthetics!! In the ideal world, they would all be dry sumped but I can't justify the costs involved. An oil cooler and an 'accusump' should help to keep things slippy.

The exhaust headers on one of the cars are modified Ford V6 items and the others use the crap Alfa cast items (fairly slimline and free!!)"

Regards
Iain
