Discussion
Hi. two weeks ago I bought a Fiat Ducato camper van. it was a private sale. it is a 2020 model and has less than 10,000 on the clock. we drove it back from York to Norfolk where we live with no issue. two days later an engine management light came on the dashboard. we took to a local garage who diagnosed a DPF problem. we contacted the seller and they sent a new DPF filter from their fiat commercial garage (they said that their local fiat dealer said it was likely to be a sensor issue. this is why they sent us a new one). we then gos=t a DPF mobile engineer to diagnose the problem, he confirmed it was the sensor and fitted the new one. however he could not cancel the euro code, because the new sensor has a different part number to the original (although he confirmed it was the correct part) we have been told that only a Fiat main dealer can cancel the code by upday=ting the vans ECU. so we have booked it in for next Friday. however the fiat dealer is 50 miles away.
My question is (finally) is it ok to drive the van that far with the engine management light still on? the DPF engineer says it is not a critical sensor and should be ok. but we don't want to do any real damage, by driving it. the cost of a recovery to Fiat is £350.00, so if we can drive it we would rather do so.
Thanks Robbie

You just bought it, presumably from a dealer...
