The cam belt is overdue to be done on my camper, Fiat Ducato 2.3 (2010)
Should I only go for genuine Fiat parts for the belt or there other trustworthy makes?
(I'll do the water pump at the same time)

Think of it this way... Fiat don't make cam belts, tensioners or waterpumps, any more than they make tyres, sparkplugs or windscreens... they merely spec them, and then assemble them into their vehicles along with all the other parts delivered to their factories assembly sheds by other parties in order to make the finished item.
The aim in essence is to discover who made the parts for Fiat, and buy them in their own box rather than pay the mark-up involved for it coming in a Fiat Box, or at least to find an OE Quality supplier if not the exact OE Quality supplier in the case of a kit with parts from more than specialist supplier (eg belt, plus tensioner, plus waterpump, so there may be three specialist manufacturers putting parts into that box).
I think Gates manufacture for Fiat, but Continental, Dayco, Schaeffler (INA), SKF are all OE Quality manufacturers.

I always use genuine parts for the cambelt change on my Ducato I’ve done two, but As TwinKam said Gates and Dayco are OE suppliers to Fiat and probably most of the others for different vehicles. You could always fit Gates with an Original Water Pump.
