Motorsport Electronics ECU Mapping- MX5 NC
Discussion
Good morning all,
I’ve been having some running issues with my BBR 225 NC, and rather than continue to try and fight BBR to square it away, I’m just going to buy an ME360 for the car and have someone else map it properly.
To that end, has anyone got a good recommendation for a mapper that’s used to playing with these?
Thanks in advance!
Phil

There is a chap well known in the Mx5 tuning circles by the name of Alex Hickson, think you can find his details on facebook.
If you struggle to find him let me know and i will dig his details out.
Thank you mate. I don’t have Facebook, but no rush at all. Appreciate the help. If you struggle to find him let me know and i will dig his details out.

Not that I can see on their website, I’ll give them a call tomorrow.. I didn’t realise they did so much stuff for MX5’s either in fairness!
I think it's been their main core really.I'm sure even if they do not offer the service in house, they're bound to have people they can recommend. But as they do so much themselves, they're bound to offer a tuning service ?

Thanks Stevie. I’m new-ish to MX5’s, bar a brief stint in an NA cup car when I was younger. It doesn’t mention much in the services section, other than some diagnostic time but to me that seems more along the lines of tech support to someone mapping the ECU as opposed to physically doing it themselves. I’ll let you know how I get on tomorrow..I'm sure even if they do not offer the service in house, they're bound to have people they can recommend. I have recently had a 225 conversion completed at BBR and have exactly the same issues that you have been experiencing (I read your original thread when you first had the conversation completed back in February).
I tried to email you directly through your profile but it suggests your profile doesnt permit this.
Ideally I would love a quick call to talk through your experience as it might change my next steps. I dont think it is generally accepted as a good idea to post your email address or phone number directly on the forum (so I havent).
Thoughts?

No worries at all, I’ve just updated my profile so you should be able to drop me a private message now. Happy to send my number on those means!

I often look at ND's and often think about buying one with the BBR kit, or having it done myself. I must say though, I'm seeing more and more posts about BBR and they dealings that's really starting to put me off
I think, with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I could have an achieved the same end goal sourcing bits and fitting them myself. Then just have the ECU mapped by someone. I’ve always done everything to my cars myself, this was actually the first time I’d been in a position to pay someone to do something. Lesson learned in that respect, it’s the first and last time I do it. The workmanship there is pretty shoddy, minor things, like the exhaust tips being completely different lengths. Small basic attention to details things I know, but that to me indicate general sloppiness which I would assume cross decks into other more serious areas. philrs03 said:

I sent you an email through here earlier today. Hopefully you received it.
Hey!
I'm actually one of the owners of ME and software guy. Any questions, please shoot.
My business partner does the mapping through his other company (it's right next to us, don't want to break any forum rules by mentioning company names), but we tend to recommend Alex Hickson (Digitune) for essentially getting the car starting, idling and low-load driving like an OEM car and then just taking it to a dyno for a sign-off.
