Hi is there anyone on here had any experience in this ?

I mated a 5 speed from a 2.8 Capri to an essex 3.0 with a V4 bellhousing

When doing it Do you know if there is uprated type 9 gearbox to cope with the bigger engine ?

You will need a very rare bellhousing from a 2.5 Granada/ Consul.

Other way round, or you could have the 2.8 shaft turned down.

Not according to Google.....and I'm pretty sure I used a std 2.8 box

Also mentioned in your Google, TVR man goes on to say he had to grind the shaft down 14.5 mm.
You wont have to do this with the 2.5 bellhousing and the 4 pot type 9.

My Google says the 4 cylinder is too shortbiggrin
Is the 2.5 bellhousing different from the V4 that I used ?
It was 30 years ago when I did it, I may well have shortened the input shaft, I can't remember

Yes. With the 2.5 BH and the 4 pot type 9 there is no modifying, just a bolt in job.

Yeah I’ve read the shafts are bigger for the bigger engine also the bearings were uprated and to tell is the 3 bolt bearing flange under the shaft on the front
