Hi there, have joined this forum for some technical help on my ongoing DPF issue on a 2016 A class 1.5D on 90k . it has been to 3 x garages and 1 x mobile DPF specialist who all cannot fix it. it randomly throws the engine management light and goes into limp mode. i can reset it and it stays off for 50 miles or can come back on after 1 mile there is no consistency.

the DPF specialist tried a forced regen with me driving for 40 minutes and both attempts were aborted with his computer saying regen could not be complete. The soot levels were going down then just started to go back up .

I have a icarsoft MB and the faults read

The efficiency of the DPF cylinder bank 1 is not sufficient. The function or instruction is faulty. The parameter is outside the permissible range.

The live data says it has 40g of soot . The temp sensor upstream of turbo gets to around 600* and the temp sensor upstream of DPF around 280/300* whilst driving.

i tried a forced regen myself using icarsoft and watched the levels in the dpf go from 65 down to 12 then just continually started rising back up then engine light just came back on.

any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm at my witts end now and keep paying money to garages for nothing and have no faith in taking it on any long trips.

Wouldn’t worry about the soot reading - that will sort itself out if it completes a regen.
What is the differential pressure across the dpf according to the icarsoft? Does it go up when you rev the engine?
Is it zero if you remove the pipe(s) from the sensor?
