Theory & Practice.

Car currently fitted with BP6ES (original spec for an old Essex) which I bought to replace the previous iridium plugs that fouled and were scrapped., There were some spare BPR6ES in the car, wondering if these are a preferred option as it's fitted with a host of electronic stuff like Emerald K3 and all the injector gubbins etc

Car has a habit of fouling the plugs until warmed up, they're pretty black under normal driving anyway. Would a set of 7's be worth a try.

I know I need to find out more about the electronics and see if I can weaken the mix very slightly but first I need to upload the CD to my lap top which hasn't got a CD drive and then understand what's going on. Give me 2x40DCOE/SUs/Strombergs etc any day...

If the plugs are fouling, get it tuned correctly so they do not foul.

And colder plugs, 7's will do nothing whatsoever to help a fouling issue, they'll make it worse.

And/or upgrade the ignition system itself if needed to something more powerful

Cheers, Steve.
The whole thing was supposedly set up or at least checked by Dave Walker but I've no definite record of it.
When I read the Emerald manual I don't exactly glaze over but there's a lot to take in and I don't want to mess it up.
Can't imagine there's anyone up here that genned up on this sort of kit but I should start asking questions.
I'm just from a different age, one of carbs and dizzys.

It's a steep learning curve for sure but worth checking out what the AFR is doing, not sure if it uses wideband sensors?

As you're Emerald based, you could buy Daves book for a bit of reading. Must no longer be in print, but some used copies available.
