help - i know it s not a exactly exotic but ive got a 95 transit 2.5td with an early ecu. Ive had a great run of luck with it, over in the last couple of weeks ive spent over £2000 TRYING to solve a broad sheet of problems - i snapped an alternator mount on the M25 the belt came off and ripped out the fan, taking out the oil pump cover, rad and all the belts - this is the day after spsnding out £900 getting it through an MOT ( some of us just dont know when to give up ) so ive replace everthing that was broken with new put it back together and now you start it and its fine drive it 50 yards and the ecu goes into limp home mode. you turn off the ignition and restart it and its fine. so ive taken it to a guy iknow who has a ford fault code reader and its saying that theres a crank angle sensor problem, and a/f recirculation prblm and a fuel pump calabration problem so I though what a twat ive timed it up wrong (even though I used pins) so ive stripped it down and its timed up properlly. the thing that gets me is that it ran fine until I stripped it down, Ive now touched any sensors except the crank sensor so I could tdc it. now i have asked everyone i know whos even sniffed at a desiel engine and no-ones got a clue - Im thinking that the cranks sensor has had it but ive been told that the engine wont even fire if its knacked.
Anyone got ANY ideas cause i cant afford to spend anymore money on this dam van without a good reason - so talk to me i need all the help I can get . thanks the new boy.

Can you not pick up a sensor from a scrappy?

You've got a transit with EPIC,

Ignore the calibration resistor fault code, they seem to throw that one around for no reason.

Not sure what you mean with a/f recirc, sure it wasn't EGR?

Now, onto the interesting bit, if your timing was too far out, you'd have a trouble code for "Bolt Up Limits Exceeded", the system will allow for up to 8degrees of misalignment.

Can you remember if there was a spacer on the crank sensor? depending on the airgap distance between the flywheel and the sensor tip there were various spacers/shims fitted. It's a normal occurance for someone to remove the sensor and place it on the battery etc and fail to notice that the shim had fallen off.

If you can get a few more specific details it would help,

Is this epic 1 or 2? one has a throttle cable going over to the NS of the engine bay, the later is a switch on the throttle pedal itself.

Also the exact trouble code would be handy.

Yes......I like playing with Transits and I know my way round Lucas' Electronic Programmed Injection Control

I'm confused here m8
are you buying a new van or looking for a fuel pump?

On what grounds are they saying the fuel pump is defective?
As the engine was clearly running at the time of the belt failure I can't think of a reason as to why the pumps gone.

The exact trouble codes would very handy to have here.
