Sorry for the long post but hoping for some advice/suggestions.
I have a 65 plate Automatic xtrail cvt with just under 45000 miles on the clock. One previous owner and I’ve had it for just over 2 years. No previous problems but around 4 months ago on a long journey, the car began juddering when going over 60mph, shortly after a Stop/Start system fault appeared. Diagnostics check done and code said a new accelerator pedal was needed so this was done. However, the juddering continued along with occasional surging. Long story short, I have had a new air filter, new fuel filter and the cvt engine oil checked/changed and no metal was present.
But the problem remains, usually drives fine under 40mph, anything over and the car occasionally judders or surges. Worse going up hills or accelerating off a roundabout. Each time the fault reappears and diagnostics is run, the fault code is different.
Hoping someone has had a similar experience and can offer any advice.
Thanks

Buy a replacement Turbo control valve and swap it over, it's only about £30 and a 2 min job. But if that fails, the turbo doesn't engage and causes juddering and lack of power.
This unit failed on my mother's X-Trail and when i replaced it, it was all fine.

Not sure if it looks the same on your MY model, but this is what it looks like on a 2008 MY

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Perfectly-Compatible-1495...

When you open the bonnet, it sits near the windscreen and you can see the rubber pipes leading to the turbo.

Also if you've not already swapped the battery out, do that too. Electrical "faults" can appear if you have a weak battery.

Thanks for your reply. Had a battery health check today as is at 69% currently. If the battery was the issue, should I expect the battery warning light on the dashboard? Appreciate your other suggestion, will look into that.

69% is fairly rubbish unless it hasn't been run for more than a few miles for a long time.

sounds liek the CVT gearbox is the issue and likely about to fail.

Nissan good will could kick in if
a) you bought it from a main dealer
b) its less than 8 years old
c) its less than 80k miles.

First think is to change the gearbox/cvt oil, check for swarfe. Then the second thing is to sell the car.

Although independent auto gear box specialists can probably fix it for a lot less than the main dealer.

The battery is not the issue regarding juddering.

It’s less than 8 years old and done 45,000 but wasn’t purchased from main dealer.

We had the same thoughts about the gearbox and took it to a Nissan Specialist who checked the oil but found no metal at all. The oil was changed but he didn’t believe this to be the problem.

In fairness, I mainly use the car to drive round my town, school runs, shopping etc. Visit family on weekends but that’s only about 10 miles away. So it does only get the occasional long drive.

Take the opportunity to get rid of it as soon as you can, its a hideous car and you probably have some big bills looming.
Not much help sorry but its no good for your current usage.

As per my post above, that explains that then, not brilliant, but not the worst problem, a good charge/drive will help.

As was stated above though, that clearly isn't the problem and the above sounds like good advice to me.

Why do you say it’s a hideous car? I assume you don’t mean aesthetically so are they renowned for issues?

Yes, those in the know wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
Hope you get it sorted though you just need to find someone who knows what they are doing willing to take it on.
Impossible to guess at on here.

In defence of the Xtrail. I have one 100k miles no real issues. They are a good car if you look after them . Mines a diesel manual, regular oil changes and the occasional long run.

I'm having the exact same problems with my 2019 CVT X-trail - I find the juddering doesn't always happen if I turn off stop/start as soon as I turn the engine on. I've had it since new and the day we paid the 'final bubble' on it the problems started! First was the coolant system blowing up, now this.

I'm going to take it into Nissan ASAP but wondering if you had any updates? It worked perfectly until it's 4th birthday. Mix of local + motorway travel, about 40K on the clock.

Just ordered an OBD Bluetooth reader to see what the error codes come back as
